PETALING JAYA: Long before Wan Mohd Fazri knew what the SEA Games was, he ran simply because his father Wan Zahari Hashim, a retired headmaster, asked him to join him on most mornings and evenings.

Their home at Jalan Telipot in Kota Baru sat near the Kelantan palace, and the neighbourhood field became the first stadium for the father and son duo.
