Tooth gems are noninvasive oral decorations, such as crystals, diamonds, and metal charms, that are bonded to the enamel using UV light and a special glue. Unlike the grills popularized in the 1980s and '90s by African American hip-hop artists like Flavor Flav and Slick Rick, tooth gems are a more subtle way to add bling to your smile. We visited celebrity orthodontist Bobbi Peterson at Aces Braces in New York City to follow a client receiving a new tooth gem.
