US AI chip company Cerebras Systems said on September 28 it plans to supply AI chips and hardware with capacity to use about 100 megawatts to Gimlet Labs for the startup’s cloud computing business.

Gimlet Labs, a startup building a cloud service for AI inference, said it aims to offer the hardware in 2027 after Cerebras delivers its CS-4 systems over one to two years.

Inference is the stage when AI models generate responses to user prompts.

Cerebras said Gimlet plans to use the systems to run frontier models, or cutting-edge AI models that need large amounts of computing power to operate quickly.

Cerebras describes the CS-4 as an AI inference system built around its wafer-scale WSE-3 Turbo chip.

The companies did not disclose financial terms.

Gimlet will maintain and operate the systems after delivery. The deal adds to Cerebras’s push into inference hardware, following its earlier agreement to supply chips to OpenAI.
