Kelly McGillis was a huge Hollywood sensation in the 1980s, but in recent years, the Top Gun star has stayed largely out of the spotlight. Wondering what she's been up to lately? We've got all the answers right here.

McGillis may be best known for her filmwork, which includes huge hits like Top Gun and Witness, but her first home is the stage, and she's compiled a steady and impressive resume. She may be slightly less visible because she forgoes the bright lights of Broadway in favor of stages in Washington, D.C., Southern California, and in touring productions, but she did hit the Great White Way once, playing the title role in a 1994 production of Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler.

McGillis spent more than a decade at DC's Shakespeare Theatre, performing in the plays Twelfth Night, The Merchant of Venice, Much Ado About Nothing, and more. In 2004, she took on one of the most famous and complex roles in theatrical history, starring as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth.

That same year, she hit the road to play Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, a stage play based on the classic 1967 movie.

Now, McGillis tries to share some of what she's learned about her craft and her industry by teaching acting classes.

In 2016, she joined the Meisner Acting Conservatory, in Asheville, North Carolina, not far from her home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's one of the top institutions in the country that teaches the Sandford Meisner acting technique and theory. But it was no vanity gig for McGillis, who taught three courses on Shakespearean acting, which included how to navigate tricky monologues and the Bard's unique meter, as well as how to act through mannerisms and stance.

After a long and challenging battle with substance abuse, McGillis took on the role of a drug rehabilitation counselor, in order to help others through their own recovery. Keep watching the video and you'll see Charlie from Top Gun is now in her 60s and still gorgeous!
