BrainCo, a China-founded brain-computer interface company known for non-invasive electroencephalography (EEG) headbands and prosthetic systems, unveiled what it called a brain-to-robot AI platform for research and development at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on July 17.
The platform combines an EEG-based system that converts neural signals into commands for third-party robotic arms, humanoid robots, and robotic dogs with a second system that captures multimodal biosignals, human demonstrations, robot execution, and virtual simulation data for model training.
At the event, BrainCo showed a robotic arm grasping a cup and picking up an apple based on decoded neural signals, alongside prosthetic hand and leg products.
The company raised roughly 2 billion yuan (US$295 million). Its prosthetic systems have also been described as widely deployed in China.
Published research suggests non-invasive EEG can support robot control with about 80% accuracy in simpler tasks, but with roughly one-second latency and weaker performance as commands grow more complex.
China issued BCI research ethics guidelines in 2024, while 2025 policy measures and a new medical insurance category signaled support for the sector.
