Chinese Actress, 54, Wins 3rd Place At World’s Top Ballroom Dance Competition
Popular Chinese actress Wang Lin chased her passion for ballroom dance and impressively clinched third place at the annual Blackpool Dance Festival on May 20.
The 54-year-old star took part in the Teacher-Student group, a category typically dominated by professionals. The competition, which took place in England, is regarded as one of the most influential ballroom dancing events today.
Dressed in a green gown, Wang Lin and her dancing partner, Russian dance champ Evgeny Moshenin, performed quite the elegant foxtrot.
Sharing a video of her performance on Weibo, Wang Lin wrote: “I moved one step closer to my dream. Thank you, my teacher (Evgeny Moshenin)”.
But are we that surprised?
Best known for her iconic role as “Aunt Snow” in the hit 2001 Romance in the Rain, the Shanghai-born actress has quite a solid dance background as a graduate of the Shanghai Theatre Company.
Wang Lin even received praise in 2023 from renowned Chinese dancer Yang Liping during a ballroom performance on a variety show, calling her “incredibly professional in dancing”.
“Your performance was as captivating as your acting in a drama,” he added.
Netizens were especially amazed at how Wang Lin has remained fit and agile even at 54.
The Desert Whispers actress has previously shared her fitness routine and nutritional habits.
For starters, she dances for an hour and a half every day for the past 15 years and recently added weightlifting exercises and Pilates to her regimen to maintain strength and flexibility.
Wang Lin also kicks off her day with what she calls a “five-coloured meal” that includes small quantities of eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, and blueberries.
She also follows a 16:8 intermittent fasting routine, eating within an eight-hour window and fasting for the remaining 16 hours.
“You should primarily eat low-calorie foods, but it’s perfectly fine to indulge in delicious treats occasionally,” Wang Lin advised.
“To maintain a healthy body, you must not only focus on losing weight but also cultivate a mindset that embraces the joy of life,” she added.
