Are Chinese stars all turning into competitive sprinters?

Recently, Joy Of Life actress Song Yi went viral on Xiaohongshu after she was seen dashing across a airport terminal.

In the clips, the 35-year-old star was swarmed by a group of fans snapping pictures of her. She suddenly picked up her pace and started running, triggering the group to give chase and causing a commotion among the sea of travellers. 

A netizen later explained that a fan had told Song Yi that the paparazzi had arrived, which probably set her off. 

After the video went viral, Song Yi was praised for how good she looked while running. The polka-dotted midi skirt from Fn Clean Explain she was wearing also saw an increase in sales. 

This is not the first time Chinese stars have made the news for running in airports.

Actors Huang Junjie, Zhang Ji, Wang Anyu as well as American-Chinese singer Zhou Ke Yu have also been caught on camera darting across airports (see below).

Is being able to run fast a prerequisite of being a Chinese star now?
