Chinese Tourist Says "S'pore Has No Handsome Guys"; Netizens Name Chuando Tan & JJ Lin To Prove Her Wrong
There are a few common gripes that tourists have about Singapore, such as our hot weather or that the cost of living is too high.
But this is the first time we're hearing someone say this about our country.
Recently, a Chinese tourist known as Tian Li took to Xiaohongshu to rant that "Singapore is a country without handsome guys".
Tian Li lamented that she "did not see a single good-looking guy" during her stay here, and that she "did her make-up for nothing". It also didn't help that the humid weather "made [her] make-up cakey".
She also complained that our goods and services are too expensive, and that her 3000yuan (S$539.45) salary was not enough for her expenditure here.
But there were some things about Singapore that she liked too, including the cleanliness, the greenery and the yummy durians.
However, it was her remark about the lack of hunks in Singapore that hit home for many netizens, prompting a lively discussion in the comments section.
Some agreed with her about the lack of eye candy. "I've been to Singapore thrice. My friends and I also grumbled that we didn't see any handsome dudes there," wrote one such netizen.
One even joked: "The men may not be attractive but their salary is attractive" while another mused: "It appears that Singapore has never produced any handsome male celebrities."
Then there were those who begged to differ.
"No handsome men? Have you not seen the most good looking 59-year-old Chuando [Tan]?," contended one such netizen who shared two pictures of the age-defying local heartthrob.
Many also named Singaporean singer JJ Lin to challenge Tian Li's argument.
"My 'husband' is very suave," gushed one fan with a pic of the 44-year-old star.
Ya lor, who say we got no handsome guys?
