Despite a flurry of demolition notices from the Chinese authorities, Mr Chen Tianming’s towering “Ghibli nail house” stands tall.
Most of his village in Guizhou province was razed to build a lucrative tourist resort in 2018. When the project faltered, he defied orders and continued to expand his family’s humble stone bungalow in order to protect it.
