Coach: Chew paves the Wei for boccia’s popularity

PETALING JAYA: Boccia coach Aiman Hafizi Abu Bakar sees Chew Wei Lun’s unexpected success at the Tokyo Paralympics as an eye-opener to all Malaysians on the sport’s potential, especially to the cerebral palsy group.

Wei Lun, who made history by becoming the first Malaysian athlete to compete in boccia on the Paralympic stage, lost 2-4 to defending champion David Smith of Britain in the mixed individual BC1 final at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre on Wednesday.
