Coaches laud progress of Sarawak para bowlers

KUCHING (May 27): Sarawak para bowlers impressed with four first placings, three seconds and four thirds in the Kuala Lumpur Para Open held at Sunway Megalanes, Selangor over the weekend. The tournament did not award medals.

On top of the podium were Roni Tugiman (TPB2 men’s singles), Alim Sohai (TPB8 men’s singles), Nur Syazwani Marais (TPB4 women’s singles) and Muhd Hazim Sazali-Nur Syazwani (TPB4 mixed doubles).

Finishing second were Hazim (TPB4 men’s singles), Sallehin Pandita who partnered Syawal from Pahang (TPB8 mixed doubles) and Azeera Jalani-Mohd Najib Salmi (TPB4 mixed doubles).

Muhd Zul Adly Majeni (TPB4 men’s singles), Azeera (TPB4 women’s singles), Abang Yusdi Abang Annuar (TPB9 men’s singles) and Abang Yahya Abang Azhar-Zul Adly (TPB4 mixed doubles) were placed third.

A special prize category saw Nur Amalina Mohd finishing first in the TPB10 women’s singles and Ho Mei Mei who was third in the TPB9 women’s singles.

“The competition marked another year of growth and achievement by our para bowlers in tenpin bowling. Our bowlers have shown dedication and improvement.

“This year’s event saw increased participation from across the country, with new faces, stronger performances and continued development of para bowlers,” said Sarawak head coach Myron Khoo Hock Meng.

Another coach Jerusha Chan felt inspired by how the Sarawak bowlers have grown since last year.

“We’re seeing more new faces, stronger passion and real progress from all the dedicated bowlers. The spirit, sportsmanship and determination on the lanes were simply uplifting,” the coach said.
