The aftermath of the car crash in which four people died was so horrific police officers knocked on the doors of nearby houses to urge parents to not let their children witness the distressing scenes.

As dawn broke yesterday officers went door to door to warn mums and dad in the neighbourhood just how bad the accident had been. Dozens of emergency workers arrived at the scene in Colchester, Essex following the incident.
