A strategic collaboration is set to provide Bandar Seri Coalfields residents and its surrounding community with access to high-quality education within an integrated education zone for the Northern Klang Valley Corridor.

This follows a memorandum of understanding signed between KLK Land, a subsidiary of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK), and Kuen Cheng Holistic Education Bhd to establish the new Kuen Cheng High School 2, which will be located at Bandar Seri Coalfields, Sungai Buloh.

The education zone currently includes Wesley Methodist Private School, SJK (T) Ladang Coalfields and a new Chinese primary school SJK (C) Lee Loy Seng, set to complete in January 2028.

KLK Land has allocated 3.96ha of prime land for the development of Kuen Cheng High School 2.

The new school would further complement the existing and future educational institutions in offering wider educational opportunities for the community, the company said in a statement.

With the current Kuen Cheng High School in Kuala Lumpur experiencing an overwhelming demand for admissions, this new campus will help meet the growing need for quality educational spaces.

The proposed Kuen Cheng High School 2 is expected to begin student recruitment in preparation for the 2027 academic year intake.

KLK Land managing director Lee Wen Ling said, “At KLK, we believe that education plays a vital role in shaping new generations and nurturing young minds for a brighter future.

“We are pleased to partner with Kuen Cheng Holistic Education Bhd to bring accessible and quality education to Bandar Seri Coalfields and surrounding communities.

“As we continue to develop the township, we are focused on creating a place where residents can enjoy both a comfortable living environment and a strong sense of community,” he said.

“With the opening of Coalfields Retail Park, our lifestyle neighbourhood mall set to complete in second quarter of 2026, this strategic educational partnership will further complete our lifestyle offering of the township, making Bandar Seri Coalfields an attractive place for families to call home.”

As Kuen Cheng High School chairman, Tan Sri William Cheng Heng Jem highlighted his views with regards to the Board of Governors’ decision to establish Kuen Cheng High School 2.

“A branch school is not merely to replicate an existing institution, but to adopt its entire value, philosophy and the commitment in providing high- quality education.

“Our school has experienced significant growth in the past decade and reached its maximum classroom capacity permitted,” he said.

“The student population now comes close to 5,000, whose average admission rate has been just 49.8%, resulting in enthusiastic applications being turned down and many promising young applicants unable to secure a place.

“Furthermore, the excellent academic results, high admission rate of our students qualifying for public universities and setting a new school record of Kuen Cheng, has prompted our determination to expand,” he added.

“It is an essential mission to uphold and promote our valuable traditional values while also celebrating the richness and inclusivity of the multicultural landscape.”

The development of Kuen Cheng High School 2 marks a key milestone in Kuen Cheng Holistic Education Bhd’s expansion into Bandar Seri Coalfields, complementing KLK Land’s vision of creating a vibrant, well-rounded community that caters to both educational and lifestyle needs.
