METHODIST College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) will set up a branch campus in Penang next year.
The MCKL College (Penang) Pykett campus will be located at the former Pykett Methodist primary school in George Town.
MCKL College (Penang) is planning to offer the widely recognised Cambridge A-Levels, the Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE) programme and its Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
It is also planning to introduce diploma programmes in data science, the Internet of things, e-commerce, digital marketing and continuing professional development courses relevant to the Industrial Revolution 4.0 marketplace.
The opening of the new branch campus in Penang, approved by the Higher Education Ministry recently, is in line with its MCKL Strategic Plan 2020-2025.
Renovation at the Pykett campus, which has already started, will preserve the character and structure of the former Pykett Methodist Primary School’s historic building.
When completed the campus will provide full-fledged college facilities.
The inaugural intake of students is planned for August 2021.
The vision of MCKL College is to provide more higher education opportunities and alternative pathways for secondary school leavers and adult learners in Penang and the northern region.
