Critics say Beijing is trying to show the world it as successfully halted the outbreak by sending 4.3 million primary, secondary and further education students back to the region's 5,000 schools and instituations that have been closed since January. But they warn the bid to enhance Beijing's global reputation is putting lives at risk, particularly among the minority Uighur community which is largely based in Xinjiang.
