Covid-19: Patients in Tawau provided with food, says Health DG

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has dismissed claims that Covid-19 patients in Tawau, Sabah are not provided with food around the clock. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Tawau Hospital will give out food to its patients three times a day - during breakfast, lunch and dinner. “The Health Ministry has been informed about this claim and we have conducted our investigation. This claim is not true and it is fake news. “Our checks at the Tawau Hospital have found that patients are provided with breakfast around 7am, lunch at about noon and dinner close to 5.30pm in the evening. “The ministry is urging people not to believe such fake news which can create unnecessary panic among the general public. “At our hospitals, we set the time for food to be given to our patients throughout the day,” said Dr Noor Hisham at the ministry’s Covid-19 press conference here on Tuesday (Oct 20). A Facebook post that claimed to receive information that Covid-19 patients are underfed at the hospital has gone viral. The user alleged that those who are given breakfast will not receive lunch and vice versa - to the extent that many have suffered from gastric issues.
