I’m a final-year student in university who has recently been in 2 separate internships since May, and will be starting an extremely intense finance internship in about a month’s time.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how life will be like once this internship begins (and after I graduate), and a part of me has been struggling to accept the reality that I will not be able to have as much time as I used to for my passions.

For me, I enjoy playing football and chess not just leisurely but competitively, because its just how I’m like; I enjoy the thrill of competing.

But I know that once I start working I won’t be able to dedicate hours to playing or training for these things anymore, and my personal goals kind of fall by the wayside.

Its not the same as just doing these things on a weekend, because I really want to prioritise my time as well with my girlfriend (I love her more than anything) and loved ones.

I’m also the kind of person that feels like it wouldn’t be worth doing something if I’m not dedicating 100% of my effort in it, but its sad because I really love doing these things at the same time.

Maybe I’m just being melodramatic, but how did you guys manage your expectations coming into adulthood? Sharing your stories would be amazing as well!
