We’ve been dating for six months. A few months ago she met a guy (fake name Kris) at her new job and they’ve become good friends.

Since meeting him, she’s taken up a hobby of criticizing me for minor things constantly. I’ve hung out with Kris and her a few times.

He’s a nice enough guy, very nerdy, and a bit awkward. Apparently I intimidated Kris the first time I met him, which was not my intention. I do not get a vibe from Kris that he’s into my gf, but she talks about him constantly.

Yesterday at her birthday party my gf gets very drunk. I’m chatting with someone and out of nowhere she points at me and drunk-yells at everyone that I’m only talking to the person because I’m too awkward to talk to anyone else. I give her a funny look and don’t say anything while she laughs at me. Nobody laughs with her.

Later, I notice her having an animated conversation with Kris telling him that if he was a rod, she would polish him (they polish rods in a lab at work).

She thinks it’s really funny and keeps talking about how much she wants to polish Kris’s rod, which… seems explicit.

That night we sleep together. We’re both drunk. We’re really getting into it when she moans “KRIS”. A moment later she corrects herself: “[my name]”.

I’m drunk, and just wanted to F, and non-confrontational so I ignore it.

In the morning I bring up her calling out Kris’s name and she denies that it happened. She even texts him in front of me about the rod thing and Kris agrees that it was just a work joke, saying he didn’t think she meant anything from it. She scrolls up through their texts to show me that they’re just friends.

Well, I still can’t stop thinking about her calling out Kris’s name. I remember it very clearly and it’s bothering me.

Have any of you made a new friend and then called out their name with your SO by mistake? I’m not sure whether her suddenly becoming very critical of me after meeting Kris has to do with the honeymoon period ending or if she’s comparing me to him and would rather be with him if only he were interested.

Do you think she said a random name by mistake because she was drunk, or was she fantasizing it was him in bed with her.
