TRADITIONAL villages in Kuala Langat, Selangor, will now enjoy daily domestic waste collection services.

This expansion, from three times a week previously, is part of the renewed seven-year agreement between Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) and KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM).

MPKL president Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd said the new contract featured several improvements including wider operational area and better logistical support and infrastructure.

“To date, MPKL has placed 238 waste bins in 70 locations, specifically for use in 36 traditional villages throughout the municipality.

“This initiative is part of efforts to ensure that rural communities also benefit from systematic and well-planned waste management services,” he said, adding that domestic waste would be collected daily.

“Bulk waste collection, previously conducted once a week, will now be carried out three times a week.

“We are confident that this new scheduling will significantly improve operational efficiency while reducing complaints and illegal waste dumping, especially in traditional village areas.”

The previous contract ran from 2018 to June 30, 2025.

Mohd Hasry said the number of domestic waste collection zones had also been increased from 15 to 23.

“Of the total, four zones are designated for waste collection in traditional villages, covering both domestic and bulk waste.

“One zone has been set up for waste collection at a market.”

Mohd Hasry said this at the launch of KDEBWM’s new corporate image and fleet of compactor lorries that coincided with the contract renewal ceremony at MPKL headquarters in Banting.

KDEBWM managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said, to support the additional services, the company provided 25 compactor lorries and two mini compactors, as well as one armroll vehicle for use at the public market and 30 armroll vehicles for public cleansing and bulk waste collection.

This is an expansion from the previous contract, which had 19 compactor lorries, one mini compactor, one armroll vehicle for the public market and 20 armroll vehicles for public cleansing and bulk waste collection.
