Dems tap Agus Yudhoyono as deputy chairman, possible minister candidate

Democratic Party chairman and former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has appointed his eldest son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, as one of the party’s deputy chairman. In his new position, Agus has now joined the party’s senior politicians on the party’s central executive board.  He joins the party’s other deputy chairpersons, including Syarief Hasan, retired Army Lt. Gen. Cornel Simbolon and Nurhayati Assegaf. Party executives confirmed on Friday that Agus, a former military officer, had been appointed as one of the Dems deputy chiefs after his duty as the party’s joint election command (Kogasma) chief ended following April’s election.
