The only way to deter this from happening is to double confirm if your products online has been paid and no COD is required, And inform your family members if you know you wont be around at home that all your parcels coming is already paid. Scams like this only successfully targets unconfirmed and confused people that do not know anything beforehand so please make sure to inform your family members too if possible. Even if someone would send you gifts i dont think the sender would make you pay the COD? If not it wont even be a "gift". Stay safe everyone.
