Don’t Bother Calling Jolin Tsai After 7pm
Should we all be following Jolin Tsai's pre-bedtime routine? Not only does the 45-year-old Taiwanese pop diva go to bed as early as 9:30pm every night, she switches off her phone at 7pm daily to unwind.
She'd mentioned the early bedtime helps her maintain her youthful appearance and helps keep her immune system strong after she was diagnosed with shingles in 2018.
Having wrapped up the final show of her Pleasure World Tour for the year, Jolin is taking some time off to rest and recharge — something that clearly means a lot to her.
She once again spoke about her famously disciplined bedtime routine at an event on Aug 26, this time revealing that she switches off her phone every day at 7pm to enjoy some me time and unwind with a relaxing bath.
Yes, that means no screen time after 7pm. For Jolin, getting enough rest isn’t just about going to bed early. Once her phone is off, she also enters a “no-socialising” mode, giving herself some proper downtime.
So, how does she make sure she’s ready to sleep by 9:30pm? She laughed: “If you want to sleep at 9:30pm, you have to start preparing beforehand. You have to shower before bed, and fiddle around with this and that.”
“That’s when there’s no socialising. [Everything’s] completely cleared out. If you want to find me, you’ll only be able to reach me the next morning,” she added.
In fact, Jolin also revealed that she rarely keeps her phone’s ringtone on.
“I’ll still reply to messages at 7pm, but if it’s something important that requires me to think, I can’t do that when I’m in standby mode,” she explained.
However, if something genuinely important comes up for work, she’ll make an exception and stay up later.
As for how she plans to enjoy her downtime, Jolin revealed that she’ll be travelling to Europe and is happily looking forward to a break of “more than half a year”.
She explained that the company’s usual tradition is to give her a month off for her birthday, which falls in September. And when a reporter pointed out that she’ll be taking half a year off instead, she simply chuckled: “It’s a bonus.”
However, she stressed that she won’t be completely disappearing during her break.
“There are still some other small activities, but concerts will take a break for now,” she said.
As for fans wondering if Jolin will finally take the stage at the Taipei Dome, there’s a good chance it could happen, with the singer revealing that plans are in place for a performance there next year, hopefully at the beginning of the year.
While she has plans to drop new music and a music video, it looks like Jolin is taking some much-deserved time to rest and travel for now.
