Don't Worry, Karlie Kloss Says She Still Plans to Vote for the Democrats in 2020
Kloss speaks out after a 'Project Runway' contestant called her out for her connection to the Trump family.
In an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, supermodel Karlie Kloss made her political views explicit after being questioned for her indirect affiliation with the Trump family through her husband, Joshua Kushner.
Kloss said she voted for the Democrats and 2016 and plans to do the same in 2020.
Earlier this month, a Project Runwaycontestant made a snide comment about Kloss's connection with the Trumps.
Supermodel Karlie Kloss may have an inadvertent connection with President Donald Trump, but that doesn't mean she'll be voting for his party in the upcoming 2020 presidential election.
Making an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen yesterday, Kloss was asked about her affiliation with Trump through her husband, Joshua Kushner, who is the brother of presidential aide and Ivanka Trump's husband Jared Kushner.
Kloss replied, "Andy, I’m sure I’m not the only person in this country who does not necessarily agree with their family on politics."
She expanded on her political views as well. "I voted as a democrat in 2016 and I plan to do the same in 2020," she said.

Earlier this month, Project Runway contestant Tyler Neasloney made a snide remark about Kloss's Kushner connection during the show.
In the episode, contestants were to make a dress for Kloss made out of donated clothes from Goodwill. Neasloney's creation was ranked towards the bottom. Judge Brandon Maxwell criticized the garment, saying, "I cannot see Karlie wearing it anywhere, honestly."
Nealsoney quickly quipped back, "Not even to dinner with the Kushners?”
He was eliminated.
Kloss also spoke about that viral Project Runway moment during her appearance yesterday. “Honestly, the real tragedy of this whole thing is that no one is talking about how terrible that dress was," she said. "That’s why he went home. I would not wear that dress to any dinner.”
The Project Runway host has previously opened up about her and her husband's Trump connection. "It’s been hard," she told British Vogue. "But I choose to focus on the values that I share with my husband, and those are the same liberal values that I was raised with and that have guided me throughout my life." Kloss and Kushner also did not vote for Trump in the 2016 election.
Despite attempts to distance herself from the Trumps, Kloss and Ivanka have reportedly been friends for years. When Kloss announced her engagement to the younger Kushner brother on Instagram, Ivanka commented, "So, so happy for you and Josh! I feel blessed to have you as a sister (!!!) Karlie and look forward to the happy memories we will create together as a family! ❤️"
