AljeanT, 9 hours agoBecause Huawei's camera software is better than Asus ...nuff saidyou don't know what you are talking about. it's a main camera vs a selfie camera. and asus jpeg engine is really good. go being a fanboy with someone elseAnonymous, 17 hours agoMaybe it is better? Have you done your own testing?I did with the p40 pro, and a selfie camera won't come even close to a main one Anonymous, 12 hours ago"mid range sensor" ?? I'm not sure you know what you're talking about........ morePost processing is the key, of course great isp and lenses are a factor but in phone world with super tiny sensors, the sensor size is most important.Go and take a raw photo with any high end phone and you will see how horrible that camera is, post processing is like a makeup that transfer an ugly to a beatifull. And yes, IMX686 is a mid range sensor you can find it in sub 400$ phones like Poco F2 Pro.Fanboy of All brands, 22 hours agoUmm, i have a question. Is DXOMARK reliable and trusted? Depends on your - would you trust a half-empty plastic bottle on a side of a highway with unknown yellow fluid inside to be a real Fanta?Shui8, 13 hours agoLots of comments towards DxO fiasco. Just that, camera this days is not that important anymore and they established themselves in the camera department with a looooot of paid... aaaa reviews. There is enough room for others to make themselves a bit better through paid reviews from D&0, at the end this is how the whole marketing motors work. Never noticed that the "best" detergent is actually the same as all detergents, or you really think the Advertising is telling the truth? I have my opinion about DxOMark, which is why I visit GMSArena. But my question is, why is GMSArena regularly pushing content from DxOMark? It's starting to get annoying and suspicious.SigmaR, 17 hours agoactually it's the chinese brands always on top. the p50 pro selfie camera is even better ... moreBecause Huawei's camera software is better than Asus ...nuff saidAnonymous, 22 hours agoThey're the most professional camera reviewers available. These guys test for 1500 images.... But th... moreIf their reviews are based on set guidelines then why refer people to DxOMark scores when they say their phones take good/better pictures than certain brands since there are no set guidelines for taking pics in real life. All I'm trying to say is, since DxOMark is technical and the average consumer is not, y'all should stop bashing people who like certain phones' image processing just because DxO says otherwise. And this article is proof of that. Average reviewers don't like the image quality but DxO says otherwise so yeah it should be whatever DxO says...Hmmmm...I see where the "I don't trust DxOMark and STFU if you don't trust them is coming from.Anonymous, 12 hours agoI think I know who paid you to write that comment , but right now, I haven't figure out &... moreLOL £10m. I'm not sure you know what you're talking about..... lenses, ISP and OIS have a much larger bearing on image quality than the sensor, hence why the pixels can still use age old sensors and still produce top tier images. the sensor is just one piece of the puzzle.Mikele, 13 hours agoAbsolute true!Don't mind them, they always questions DXOMARK for their reviews. JaiHind69420, 22 hours agoIt is trusted if you got the score that you are looking for. If not, then it's not trustworthy.Cheers to that comment. These scores are based on some predefined criteria, if the phone did will be based on it even if the final image is not pleasant then will get a high score.IMX686 is last year midrange camera sensor, it is in no way comparable with high-end sensors like IMX789, HM3, or GN2, but 80% of the image quality nowadays is based on software processes that why iPhones and Google Pixels have great image quality despite they have ancient and tiny sensors.for example, they gave Mi 10T with an almost identical sensor a 97 point while this phone gets 142 !! I wonder if Asus paid them for this review.DXOMARK weldon for the good jobs! Lots of comments towards DxO fiasco. So now DxO either paid by Qualcomm (US) or Asus (Taiwan)? 'no chinese phone involvement here' Samsung & Apple, which is the bigger company, dont have money to pay DxO? Guys, understand how DxO protocol testing works. If somehow based on DxO results got nothing to do with your appreciation or focal length selection, simply just ignore it.My guess is that their scores are accurate for their protocol. You can download the photos they have and check the file info to see that they are real. But this is just their protocol and they have a set testing system. It is made up of a number of different categories and different subjective weightings for the different categories. Brands like Huawei and Xiaomi actually tailor their phone (lenses) and image processing to do well in this test whereas the likes of Apple don't seem to bother with it (although basically Apple cant really reach the top anyway without better telephoto and ultrawide lenses). Some brands may possibly pay them to help adjust the image processing to get a high score but even if that is the case as long as the same protocol is followed then it should be accurate. Just because a phone scores high however does not mean that the majority of consumers will prefer these images. Probably the things the majority of consumers are going to judge photos by are color, brightness and exposure. Do many average consumers zoom in on photos to examine noise and detail? Anyway, many people here seem to be obsessed with the overall score. How many of these even bother to read the detailed review and download the full size images and compare them? Why not just use it as a point of reference to read about certain categories you are most interested in a photo and see a phone cameras performance in these categories without paying too much attention to the overall score which is based on their weighting for the different categories.. They basically test mostly in auto mode too so the way a phone is set up by the manufacturer can have a big effect on the score e.g. I think they dont test night mode so a phone with an auto nightmode could potentially perform much better in for the night category than one that has a nightmode that has to be manually enabled.Fanboy of All brands, 22 hours agoUmm, i have a question. Is DXOMARK reliable and trusted? Here NO ( we're nerd )Average customer YES (first and most trusted review for camera)
