GERIK: In a heartbreaking incident this morning, a female elephant was seen grieving over the death of her calf after it was hit by a lorry in the East-West Highway near here.

Gerik police chief Superintendent Zulkifli Mahmood said police were alerted to the crash involving a young male elephant that suddenly emerged from the forest to cross the road at 2.50am.
