Employer Shares Gen Z Resignation Letters Citing Cold Weather and High Living Costs

Two Gen Zs from Malaysia are giving their generation a bad rep.

An employer recently took to Threads to share that she had gotten handwritten notes from young staff informing her of their resignations.

Posting their letters online, she wrote: “These are the resignation letters I received from two Gen Z employees. After coming to work for two days, they both took medical leave. After that, they came looking for me saying ‘Hi, how are you? These are our resignation letters’.”

Both letters, written on A4-sized paper, had only one paragraph explaining their reasons.

The first one read: “Please accept this as my resignation, effective 8/9/2025. I have appreciated my time here, but I find it difficult to cope with the weather and the cost of living, so I feel it’s best to move on.”

The second letter started out the same way, but the reasons cited were “the cold weather” and “high living cost”.

According to the employer, her company is located in Genting, where temperatures range from 10 to 25 degrees Celsius. Isn’t that similar to working in an air-conditioned office?

Netizens are now laughing at the reasons for resignation. For starters, they could have just worn jackets to work.  The Gen Zs also did not send in their resignations via email

Several also pointed out that the employees failed to submit their resignations by email, with some calling the move ‘unprofessional’.

In summary — Gen Zs are as unpredictable as the weather.
