Ethan Slater was spotted spending time with his ex-wife amid rumors that he and Ariana Grande have broken up.

Before Slater shut down those split rumors with a post for Grande on September 7, Star reported that the Wicked actor was seen with ex-wife Lilly Jay and their son in Jersey City days earlier.

“I made eye contact with Ethan while walking out of the parking garage,” an eyewitness told Star, adding that the actor, who plays Boq alongside Grande’s Glinda in Wicked, was dressed casually and pushing a stroller.

“He looked really happy, just pushing the stroller like any other parent. Just a few steps ahead was a woman who looked exactly like his ex, Jay, helping a little kid ride in one of those toy wagons,” the eyewitness said.

The witness said that they shared a brief interaction with Slater, 33, who seemed to appreciate their support. “There weren’t many people around, but he definitely appreciated being recognized. Lilly, on the other hand, didn’t even look up. She was focused on the child,” the source said.

Slater’s rare outing with Jay, to whom was married to from 2018 until 2023 after an alleged affair with Grande, came amid speculation that he had split from the “We Can’t Be Friends” singer.

Grande and Slater have not been seen together for several months after winding down promotion for the first installment of Wicked. However, Slater subtly put those rumors to bed when he showed love for Grande, 32, after her MTV VMAs wins.

Slater posted Grande’s speech for her Video of the Year win to his Instagram Story. Grande also won Best Pop Song, and Best Long Form Video for “Brighter Days Ahead.”

Grande and Slater were first linked in July 2023, shortly after Grande separated from then-husband Dalton Gomez. Slater filed for divorce from Jay that month.
