In Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos‘ star-studded wedding last week, a few celebrities were always expected to attend. While billionaires like Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey surely snagged invites, some of Sánchez’s A-list friends, including actress Eva Longoria, were also expected to attend the luxurious fête.

Unexpectedly, however, the Flamin’ Hot director didn’t make it to the wedding in Venice, Italy.

PerPage Six, the Desperate Housewives alum skipped the wedding “due to work commitments.” According to IMDb, Longoria has a series of ongoing projects, including the docuseries Bienvenidos a Necaxa and Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain season 2, and movies like Dead Guy, 24-7 and Christmas Karma.

So, instead of attending her friend’s wedding, Longoria focused on work and enjoyed a sunny weekend in her home in Marbella, Spain, with her family. In photos obtained by Page Six, Longoria showed off her curves at the beach in a bright pink bikini with a fedora hat and black sunglasses alongside her husband, José Bastón, and their 6-year-old son, Santiago.

On Instagram, Longoria posted a few pictures enjoying a drink in sunny Spain in a sweet halter pastel yellow mini-dress. “🍋🌱🌼💚,” she wrote in the caption.

As a reminder, Longoria and Sánchez have been friends for over 20 years, long before Sánchez and Bezos started dating in 2018, so her not attending the nuptials was surely a surprise.

In 2024, when Longoria was announced as one of the year’s recipients of the Bezos Courage & Civility Award, the two of them reflected on their longtime bond with The Hollywood Reporter.

“You and I constantly have these conversations that inspire each other,” Longoria told Sánchez. “Instead of sending each other memes, we send [reports] about the Latin community not being represented in TV and movies and the media.”

“I know, we send each other white papers. I’ll send you a study, and you’ll text back, ‘I already read it,'” Sánchez remembered. “You and I both have this huge commitment to empowering underrepresented communities, especially Latinas.”

“You and I are so proudly Latina, but we’re also proudly American,” Longoria said. “And we are super assimilated. But we grew up with this hyphen, living in two worlds. And I think many people relate to that, especially Latinos in the United States.”

Regardless of their longtime friendship, it seems Longoria just had too much on her plate to jet off to Venice. Fair enough, right?
