Ex-HK Singer Steven Cheung Asked To Vacate Home As He’s Unable To Pay Rent; May End Up Homeless With Wife & 4 Kids
Former Hong Kong singer Steven Cheung, 40, has been plagued with relationship scandals and financial difficulties in recent years.
Due to his negative public image, Steven has not been able to find a stable job, taking up odd jobs as a construction worker, dish washer, and flyer distributor.
He's even had to resort to online crowdfunding for donations on one occasion to support his wife, 33-year-old model Au Man Man, and their four sons, aged between two and five.
Recently, it was reported that Steven and his wife of six years have been struggling to keep their home.
Man Man recently revealed on Instagram that their landlord had terminated their rental contract, leaving them with 14 days to vacate the property.
She later updated on her IG story: “My birthday this year is a dead end. We have six days left [to the end of our lease], and nothing has changed!”
This has led many to believe that the family of six will soon end up homeless.
It appears that Steven and Man Man have actually been struggling to keep a roof over their heads since May this year.
Back then, Man Man revealed they were already one and a half months behind on their rent, and were unable to afford to pay for a new place.
Seeking help on IG earlier this month, Steven also wrote: “I really need a chance at a job. I need to pay HKD 6800 (S$1,110) by today. Please help.”
Judging by Man Man’s latest updates, the couple was unable to get the help they so desperately needed.
However, while some netizens expressed concern for Steven and Man Man’s boys, others couldn’t find it in them to feel sorry for the scandal-plagued singer’s plight.
Steven had once posted his bank account number on social media asking for donations, but was heavily criticised for “asking for money” despite being able to work.
“You require help every month, how can people help you? You’re lazy and just love complaining!” read a comment targeted at Steven.
One netizen even compared the couple to periods, saying they “return without fail every month" to ask for help.
