Ex-Lebanese PM launches AI-focused investment firm in Abu Dhabi
Former Lebanese prime minister Saad Hariri has established an investment firm in Abu Dhabi that focuses on global technology investments, particularly in AI.
The firm, Genesis SPV Ltd., was registered in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) financial free zone in late May, according to official filings.
Hariri is listed as the sole shareholder.
Sources familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, indicated that Genesis is in its early planning stages.
Representatives for Hariri declined to comment on this development.

Hariri’s new venture represents a transformation from Lebanese political leader to UAE-based investor, following a pattern of political elites finding new roles after domestic setbacks.
His political career began with his father’s 2005 assassination, after which he became head of the Future Movement party and eventually prime minister in 2009, leading a delicate national unity government with 30 ministers balanced across sectarian lines 1.
Hariri’s political influence in Lebanon steadily declined over time, particularly after a 2017 incident where he was summoned to Saudi Arabia and allegedly forced to resign in a televised address that many Lebanese viewed with skepticism 2.
His net worth dropped significantly from $3.3 billion to $1.36 billion between 2017 and 2018, weakening his financial base as Saudi support diminished under King Salman 3 4.
The transition to Abu Dhabi in 2022 appears to be both a personal and strategic repositioning, allowing Hariri to leverage his regional connections and business experience in a more stable political environment.
Hariri’s pivot to AI investment represents a strategic adaptation of family business interests to emerging technologies and more politically stable environments.
The Hariri family has deep business roots, with Saad previously leading Saudi Oger and managing a multi-billion dollar fortune before his full entry into Lebanese politics 5.
His business background is evident from his reported $1.4 billion net worth in 2009, reflecting commercial interests that preceded and ran parallel to his political career 5.
The formation of Genesis SPV Ltd. in Abu Dhabi’s financial free zone demonstrates how business-oriented political figures can pivot to new sectors when traditional power bases erode.
By focusing on AI investments, Hariri is aligning with Abu Dhabi’s technological ambitions while potentially creating a new foundation for his family’s business interests, separate from Lebanon’s ongoing political and economic instability.
