Ex-Starbucks CEO billionaire's mega yacht spotted travelling through village's tiny canal

Incredible pictures captured the moment the former Starbucks CEO's mega yacht sailed through a small village. The boat, which is around 100m long, passed through Woubrugge in the Netherlands at around 8am local time (7am BST) on Wednesday, May 28.

The Pi yacht, owned by American billionaire Howard Schultz, is worth around £107million. Schultz was the CEO of Starbucks during three periods - between 1986 and 2000, between 2008 and 2017 and as interim CEO between 2022 and 2023. He is reportedly worth around $3.2billion, which equates to nearly £2.4billion.

The Woubrugsebrug, the bridge which spans over the canal in Woubrugge, was open for around 40 minutes to let Pi pass through on Wednesday morning, according to Studio Alphen. It was reportedly making its way for Alphen aan den Rijn, a city in the western Netherlands.

The pictures show Pi towering over the local homes and buildings. It is being supported by two other vessels located at either end of the yacht.

The village of Woubrugge is located around 7.5km (4.7 miles) north of Alphen aan den Rijn. A number of local people gathered to watch the huge yacht pass through the narrow canal.

One woman said,according to the local website: "I wonder what it looks like on the inside? I think it's a luxury paradise."

Pi was named the Motor Yacht of the Year and the Best Displacement Motor Yacht Between 1,500GT and 1,999GT awards at The World Superyacht Awards in 2019. Judges praised the yacht's impressive design and stunning interior.

Inside, Pi has a spiral staircase between floors as well as a living space with a sofa to seat eight. It can accomodate up to 12 guests across six rooms and 18 crew members.

The yacht also has double-curvature glass windows to maximise the light that gets onboard. Outside, it features a steel hull and aluminium structure.
