Hong Kong actor and singer Steven Ma has taken his career to new heights.

Just 18 months after joining Metro Broadcast Corporation, one of Hong Kong's three radio broadcasting corporations, as chief operating officer, the 53-year-old has now been promoted to chief executive officer.

His new role is effective from July 15.

In a statement to the media, he expressed gratitude: “A special thanks to Mr Sung Man Hei, for his guidance over the past year, and to all my comrades at Metro Broadcast. I look forward to working with the team to create a more vibrant and influential Metro.”

Best known for his portrayal of Emperor Kangxi in the 1998 TVB remake of The Duke of Mount Deer, Steven has steadily expanded his footprint in the media industry in recent years.

In 2021, he was invited to return to TVB to lead its artiste training department.

After serving as creative director at Radio Television Hong Kong, he joined Metro Radio in January 2024.

There, he showed impressive leadership and business acumen, from bringing back veteran radio hosts to strengthen the lineup, to forging new partnerships to expand commercial opportunities.
