They say age is just a number when it comes to love. And for former TVB actress Bernice Liu, 47, that number could apparently be 70.

The Hong Kong star has been romantically linked to wealthy businessman Frederick Lui Lai Cheung, who is 23 years her senior.

Quite the age gap, right?

But judging from Bernice's latest comments, she's not losing any sleep over it.

Speaking to Hong Kong media at a charity event on October 25, Bernice was asked about her rumoured romance with Frederick, a former chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

And while the Lion Mums actress stopped short of confirming that he's her boyfriend, she certainly didn't deny the rumours either.

"I'm happy! Actually, the most important thing for everyone, whether male or female, is to be happy!" she said with a smile.

And that 23-year age gap? Apparently, it's no big deal.

"Love has never been about age. The most important thing is that two people get along well," she said.

Naturally, reporters wanted to know if wedding bells might be ringing anytime soon.

But Bernice wasn't about to give anything away.

“There are no plans yet," she replied.

And when asked if there might be some good news worth congratulating her on, she remained just as coy.

"If there's any special good news, I'll definitely share it with everyone," she said.

Well, we'll be keeping an eye out.

Adding fuel to the romance rumours was an earlier Instagram post Bernice shared, featuring the words "Love You B" written across the sky.

She accompanied the photo with a cheeky question: "Who loves me? Someone wrote it in the sky. Was it you?"

Of course, netizens immediately started wondering if a certain wealthy admirer had gone to rather extraordinary lengths to declare his love.

Some even speculated that it was a marriage proposal.

But Bernice was quick to burst that romantic bubble.

She clarified that the message had been written by an aircraft, not created by drones, and insisted it had absolutely nothing to do with her.

"It's none of my business. You guys are reading too much into it," she laughed.

She also revealed that the airline involved had subsequently contacted her.

Still, reporters weren't quite ready to let the subject drop.

They cheekily asked whether the sky-high declaration might have put pressure on Frederick to come up with an even grander proposal of his own.

"I don't know. You'll have to ask him," she coyly replied.

Well played, Bernice.

Of course, this isn't the first time the actress has been linked to a wealthy businessman.

She was previously romantically linked to billionaire Calvin Lo, with reports of their relationship circulating around 2018, as well as entrepreneur Alastair Lam.

But before anyone concludes that Bernice has a type, let's not forget that she's also dated fellow TVB stars, including Hawick Lau and Moses Chan.

Guess when it comes to love, Bernice really doesn't believe in limiting her options.
