Former Hong Kong actress Suet Nay has died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 77.
She passed away in hospital on July 3 – just 10 days after her husband, former action choreographer Tong Gai, fell to his death.
Suet Nay’s family announced in a statement that a joint wake for the couple will be held on July 14, with the funeral and cremation scheduled for the next day.
According to Hong Kong media reports, Suet Nay experienced significant weight loss after her cancer diagnosis and was also living with hereditary hearing loss, which left her deaf in one ear.
Despite her health challenges, the former TVB star remained optimistic and continued to live life to the fullest. She officially retired from acting in 2020.
Tong tragically fell to his death from a building on Austin Road, located between Tsim Sha Tsui and Jordan, on June 23. He was 88.
While no suicide note was recovered at the scene, sources alleged that Tong had been facing depression due to Suet Nay's deteriorating health and had reportedly expressed his desire to "leave with her".
The pair, who married in 1969, were widely regarded as a model couple in Hong Kong's entertainment scene. They leave behind two sons.
