KUANTAN: The excavator driver who was reported buried in a rockfall at a quarry site in Ulu Gali, Sungai Ruan, Raub, was found dead Tuesday (Sept 16).

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations and rescue Mohd Salahuddin Isa said the body of Mohammad Fazrul Illahi Ab Rahman, 30, was discovered by the search and rescue (SAR) team at 4.15pm.

"The victim's body was found intact at a depth of 5m, about 12m from where he was reported to have fallen," he said when contacted.

Mohd Salahuddin said the remains were handed over to the police for further action.

Nearly 70 personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Civil Defence Force and quarry workers were involved in the fourth day of the operation, which began at 8am Tuesday.

The SAR effort also involved sniffer dogs from the Fire and Rescue Department and the police, while villagers joined rescuers in performing solat hajat at the site.

In the 12.50pm incident on Saturday (Sept 13), Mohammad Fazrul Illahi was operating an excavator when he was struck by falling rocks from a nearby hillside.
