The Spot’s White Laksa – a bold and luxurious take on assam and Nyonya laksa
The Spot presents bold twists on hawker favourites this National Day. Innovative tipples are the order of the day, with highlights like the Kopiko ($16), an espresso-based concoction playing on the flavours of the local breakfast of kaya toast and kopi, and Mr. Bean ($16), a cheeky soy milk-based cocktail that takes its cue from the beloved soy milk-grass jelly drink found at hawker centers. Nibble on dishes such as the “orh luak” oyster omelette ($9 per piece), which sees a whole French oyster sitting atop a bed of creamy scrambled eggs, topped off with a savoury pork lard and oyster powder crisp. For a heartier meal, the white laksa ($42) – a cross between assam and Nyonya laksa – satisfies, with butter poached Boston lobster gussied up with sōmen noodles, spiced coconut foam, and pineapple salsa. Available only from 6 – 11 August for both lunch and dinner.
