One person was taken to hospital after a fire broke out at the open area of an industrial building in Aljunied on Tuesday (March 17) afternoon.
The incident happened at about 12.40pm at 627 Aljunied Road.
Mogan Kannish, 60, a chief security officer at an adjacent building, told AsiaOne that he heard at least two explosions.
He said he triggered the fire alarm as he was concerned that the fire could spread and affect the people working there.
Leon Tan, 33, who works in an adjacent building, recalled his colleague telling him that there was smoke near the windows.
"It (fire) looked quite big. We also heard some explosions...It sounded like a heavy object dropped down, so it was quite loud," Tan said.
Other eyewitnesses whom AsiaOne spoke to pointed out that some debris had flown across the fencing during the explosions.
AsiaOne also learnt that a migrant worker, who tried to fight the fire, was among two persons assessed for minor injuries.

So many discard items pile up and no safety measure taken by the management. People just throw many items that might cause explode and since it's hot sunny day. Might cause injured worker's walking around. Hope that Minister of Environment must check on such company which never do their area clean and save from fire. Make a safety protocol and ensure area are endangered to public too. Stay Safe

No housekeeping. Discarded items must remove straight away. I saw a pile of electrical items in a designated area being overloaded inside a mall. It was not cleared for days. I told customer service if they do not take action I will call police. Who knows there might be power bank that may explode.

and we must always make sure to remain cautious and vigilant at all times and ensure that we are always well and safe especially as we move towards a normal way of life in the midst of this challenging and difficult situation and circumstances that we would have to contend with regardless as well too .
