KAJANG: A 37-year-old woman and her three children, aged seven to twelve, are living in fear after her husband racked up RM53,000 in loans from illegal moneylenders.
The woman said the loan sharks were constantly harassing the family, while her 43-year-old husband vanished several weeks ago.
"I don't know the real reason he borrowed the money," the woman, Low, told a press conference at the Bandar Mahkota Cheras and Sungai Long Dapsy office yesterday.
She said that when she last spoke to her husband of ten years, he only said that he was having financial problems.

"Last week, the loan sharks threw bricks at our house, and before that, they splashed red paint on it. They even have copies of my children's and parents' MyKads.
"They've threatened to harm us if we don't pay the money, and this isn't the first time it's happened."
In 2023, the family was threatened over a separate debt. At the time, Low asked her family to help settle the RM60,000 debt.
She said the family could no longer bear the burden of her husband's debts and has decided to divorce him.
"I beg my husband to repay the debt himself, and I urge the loan sharks to stop disturbing us, as I have nothing to do with him anymore.
"A police report has been lodged, and I hope the authorities will take appropriate action against those who have threatened me," she said.
