KUANTAN: A shocked father thought his 15-year-old son was out playing football when he learned that the teenager had gone missing after falling into Sungai Kuantan in Indera Mahkota here.
Yesterday, Muhammad Isyraf Danish Razmi, the youngest of three siblings, had gone fishing on the riverbank with three friends when he slipped and fell into the river at 6.30pm while retrieving a snagged hook.
Car workshop owner Razmi Yaacob, 56, said his son would normally inform him if he planned to go fishing, but apparently, he did not do so this time.
"My son and I share similar interests. We are both adventurous and passionate about fishing, so each time he wants to go fishing, I would take him. But yesterday, he went with his friends without informing me.

"I was surprised when a policeman called me around 7.20pm and informed me that my son has gone missing and is feared to have drowned while fishing. He usually plays football in the evenings," he told reporters near the site of the incident here today (July 9).
Razmi said he last saw his son on June 9 when they went out together and enjoyed a meal in town.
"Isyraf Danish and his siblings live with their mother while I live elsewhere, as we are separated. It is our routine to meet every weekend.
"We usually go on fishing trips by the river, but this time, he went with his friends. My son knows how to swim, as I had taught him since he was 3 years old," he said, hoping that his son would be found soon.
A search operation involving firemen, Civil Defence Force personnel and police is underway to locate the missing teenager.
