PETALING JAYA: Favelle Favco Bhd

said its wholly owned US subsidiary, Favelle Favco Cranes (USA) Inc (FFC USA), has been named as one of 15 defendants in a lawsuit filed in New York over a crane incident that occurred on July 26, 2023.

The company said FFC USA was served with a Summons with Notice on July 23 in an action brought by Employers Insurance Company of Wausau, acting as subrogee of 555 Tenth Avenue Leasehold Condominium, in the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

The plaintiff is seeking damages of US$52.5mil, together with statutory interest, costs and disbursements, for losses allegedly arising from the incident. Favelle Favco said FFC USA’s involvement was limited to supplying the crane – neither the firm nor its US unit owned, operated or maintained the equipment at the time of the incident.
