GLOBAL markets in the past week were driven by expectations of a US Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate cut in September.

Trading in Fed Funds futures indicated a probability of slightly over 100%, suggesting that the Fed will implement a 25 basis points (bps) cut (or more) in the Fed Funds Rate at the scheduled Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on Sept 19.
