SEREMBAN: Claiming that federal agencies are being used to cause chaos in Negri Sembilan, an Undang, three ruling chiefs and the Tunku Besar Tampin said the move may result in the state administration becoming dysfunctional.

Describing it as unconstitutional, a breach of trust and violating the principle of federalism, they said if this persists, it would violate the Prime Minister’s oath under the Sixth Schedule of the Federal Constitution.

“We strongly condemn any effort by certain parties, whether overtly or covertly, in attempting to violate our prerogatives and constitutional rights in this state of ours.

“We also wish to remind the Prime Minister and the Attorney General’s Chambers not to interfere in the governance of Negri Sembilan as they do not have the jurisdiction to do so,” they said in a statement.

The statement was read by the former Undang of Sungei Ujong, Datuk Mubarak Dohak.

The group reiterated their claim that the move by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, to dismiss the 10-member Negri Sembilan exco lineup was wrong, unconstitutional and has no effect.

The episode, they claimed, has never occurred in the modern history of the state and was deeply embarrassing to the Negri Sembilan government.

“The act to dismiss the excos was done in bad faith to sabotage an attempt to obstruct the ruling chiefs (Raja Pemerintah) of Negri Sembilan from exercising governance while inciting the state administration to be disloyal to the legitimate government,” they said.

Also present were Undang of Johol Datuk Muhammad Abdullah, former Undang of Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad and former Undang of Rembau Abdul Rahim Yasin, who were signatories of the joint media statement.

Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Syed Idrus Al-Qadri was also a signatory.

The statement comes a day after the revocation of the appointments of the 10 exco members was gazetted.

The gazette, dated Sept 24, ­stated that Tuanku Muhriz had withdrawn his consent and revoked their appointments under Article XXXVIII(5) of the state Constitution after they breached their pledges of allegiance.

The revocation took effect on Sept 20.

The group further said any decision regarding the position of the exco must be referred to and executed upon the advice of the Mentri Besar and/or the state exco.

They also claimed the power to elect and remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar was their customary prerogative and enshrined within Article 7, Article 10 and Article 11 of the state laws.

Tuanku Muhriz, they claim, had already been deposed on April 19, 2026, in accordance with Article 10(1) and (2) of the state Constitution and the proclamation regarding it was perfected with the signature of the Mentri Besar on Aug 3.

They said Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar was now the legitimate Ruler.

They also rejected allegations that the Mentri Besar and exco were responsible for Tuanku Muhriz’s purported removal, reiterating that they have no such power to do so.

“They were merely carrying out their constitutional duties in complying with our decision as the Undang Yang Empat,” they said.

The group also said the state government had sent an official notification to the Conference of Rulers that Tunku Nadzaruddin was the new Yang di-Pertuan Besar, and that he should be the one carrying out the duties of the state Ruler including attending all meetings of the Rulers in the future.

“The state administration must also immediately grant all enshrined privileges, emoluments and provisions to Tunku Nadzaruddin who is now the state Ruler,” they said.
