First New Zealand professional rugby player diagnosed with CTE: Report

AUCKLAND – Former Auckland Blues halfback Billy Guyton has become New Zealand’s first professional rugby player to be diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), Radio New Zealand reported on March 14.

Guyton, who also played for the Wellington Hurricanes and Canterbury Crusaders in Super Rugby, died suddenly in 2023 at the age of 33.
