A switch will failed in 20+years of usage. A commercial timer will failed in 10~15years of usage. A smart control switch will failed in 5~10years of usage. Adding "smart" does lower the lifespan of components and increase complications in future. All smart things will not be compatible in future accept the simplest form. How smart the home now can be easily hack in a few years or months. Plus adding too much Smart devices will add wifi hoarding + health issues.

these new flats are smart and have brains but their owners are brainless. pasir gudang fumes inhaled by them round the clock.
