Flipkart revamps Shopsy as quick-commerce heats up

Flipkart is revamping its value shopping app Shopsy as competition from quick-commerce rivals intensifies in India’s largest cities.

Chief technology and product officer Balaji Thiagarajan said those rivals still do not match Flipkart’s reach in smaller markets.

Thiagarajan said Shopsy delivers to more than 20,000 pin codes and has logged over 450 million app downloads.

The Walmart-owned ecommerce company updates the platform to compete with Meesho, an Indian ecommerce platform focused on value-conscious shoppers and small sellers, and Amazon Bazaar.

Shopsy launched in 2021 as a social commerce reseller app before shifting to direct low-price shopping for value-conscious users.

Thiagarajan said Flipkart has mapped its services to every pin code in India, while quick-commerce players have not reached that scale.

Amazon’s low-price marketplace, Bazaar, overlaps with that push through affordable fashion and home products.

Meesho remains a rival in value commerce, with more than 250 million annual transacting users and 2.6 billion orders in FY26.
