Forest fire breaks out in Kajang Prima

KAJANG: A forest fire spanning some 1.2 hectares broke out in Kajang Prima this evening, prompting a swift response from multiple fire stations in the area.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said an emergency call was received at 7.39pm, and the first fire engine arrived at the scene at 7.51pm.
The location of the fire was reported along Jalan KP 1/3, Kajang Prima, about 10 kilometres from the nearest fire station.
The Kajang Fire and Rescue Station led the operation, with assistance from the Semenyih and Bangi stations.

A total of 22 firemen were deployed. The firefighting team was equipped with three fire rescue tenders (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.
Operation commander Hazrumi Halimi confirmed that the blaze involved multiple patches of fire across a hilly forest area.
Firefighters are still working to extinguish remaining hotspots.
No casualties have been reported so far, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Fire and Rescue Department has reminded the public to avoid open burning and to report any signs of smoke or fire, especially during the current dry season.
