My life is pretty screwed and I just want to pour it out here.

I graduated in 2019 and currently working and earning an average salary. What people do not know is that I owe more than 300k in debt and more than 90% of my salary is used to clear my debt monthly with the rest being spent on the bare essentials.

I used to run a successful business while studying and it eventually failed due to factors beyond my control, leaving a 250k debt.

Being desperate to clear my debt, I played the stock and forex markets hoping to earn some money but luck turned and I took on another 50k loss.

I had a beautiful GF and she left me once I lost all my money. I could not tell anyone, even my family as my parents earn a low income themselves and I do not want to worry them. The current payment plan is worked out by a counsellor and it will take at least another 9 years to clear the debt if everything goes well.

By then, I’ll be a 35-year-old penniless old man.

Here are what netizens think:

35 is not old for just about anything, and you could receive pay raises or promotions in the future that improve your finances. Sounds like you structured your debt repayment in a way that demonstrates you’ve learned the lesson. I think the more important aspect is to work on what sort of potential partner you want. Shake free of antiquated notions that a man must provide and all that, instead look for someone who will accept your circumstances after you’ve given full disclosure.

What makes u think 35 yrs old is penniless old man? Don’t loses hope on yourself & buck it up, stay positive & things will become better. If you give up on yourself, you already lost half of the battle. Jiayou!

The road to the end of this nightmare is arduous and painful, but take small comfort that there is a definite destination – Whatever you go through now will end the misery, and that is not an if as long as you do not make detours. Things are not too late in the 30s. You would have acquired a solid foundation in managing finances and can overtake those who have no huge debts but did not save until much later.

Its ok,at 35 still can pick up ur life n start saving again. Plan out ur finance n future. No worries but dont take risks anymore or else theres no end
