A guy who has a degree from a local university was seen asking online if he should quit the insurance line.

Here is what he asked

“Should I quit being an insurance agent?

A little background about myself, I’m 33YO, graduate 4 years ago with a Business management degree from local university, currently I’m about 3 years in as an insurance agent. Prior to becoming an insurance agent I’ve worked a few years in an administrative role earning 3k plus per month.

Why did I change to become a insurance agent ? Somehow got persuaded to becoming an insurance agent as I was told I could earn much more. But it turns out otherwise, since I took up this role, I didn’t even hit the most basic award. I kept telling myself that next year I will do better but it has been almost 3 years. Still, no awards and I’m just getting by each day. I started late in the workforce and now I feel if i quit now, it means I will set myself back for 3 years.. and part of me still feel that I can do better.

My peers are all earning 4-6k per month minimally and I’m not even close to them.. And if I quit I’ll become a loser/quitter in this insurance industry.

Really need some advice , should I continue being an insurance agent?”

Here are what netizens have to say

insurance is insanely high turnover. many ppl do not even earn the average salary outside based on FYC. many ppl quit and leave everyday. the shame you are talking about is self inflicted. the so called successful ones on instagram are far and few in between. if all the failures posted as well, you will realize how grim the stats are.

stop comparing to others and you will feel happier and actually make decisions that you really want to. i believe this also relates to why you feel ashamed in the first place.

dont waste anymore time in sales, imo you either have it or you dont. dont be like me, i wasted more time trying out diff agencies thinking its an agency problem. they are ALL THE SAME even across diff companies. hard selling ILPs and all the same nonsense.
