Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union, passed away at the age of 91 in Moscow on Tuesday. Born in 1931, Gorbachev became general secretary of the Communist Party in 1985, and was best known for ending the Cold War and allowing the reunification of Germany. In 1990, he won the Nobel Peace Prize for his role “in the radical changes that have taken place in East-West relations”
