Genting Dream Cruise Ship Rescues Person at Sea During Singapore to Phuket Voyage
Crew members aboard the Genting Dream cruise ship successfully rescued a person in distress in the Straits of Malacca on 3 Sep 2025.
The rescue operation took place during the vessel’s three-night voyage from Singapore to Phuket.

The ship’s crew spotted a small boat in distress in the morning hours. An individual was observed signalling for assistance from the water.
The crew immediately initiated rescue procedures upon sighting the distressed person. The individual was brought aboard the cruise ship safely through coordinated efforts by the maritime team.
The rescued person received immediate attention from the ship’s medical team. Food and refreshments were provided to the individual following the successful rescue operation.
A comprehensive medical assessment was conducted by the onboard medical staff. The individual remains in stable condition and continues to receive care aboard the Genting Dream.
StarDream Cruises, formerly known as Resorts World Cruises, issued a press release detailing the rescue operation. The cruise line is coordinating with relevant authorities to arrange the individual’s safe transfer to shore.
Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, commented on the successful rescue mission. “Safety at sea is our foremost duty,” Goh stated. “I am proud of the captain and crew’s vigilance and professionalism in carrying out this successful rescue.”
